HOW WE MET

One day, I (Melanie) received a friend request on Facebook and a very long message from this random guy… and now I get to marry him in front of all of you - our very closest friends and family! Who would have ever thought that would be the story of how I would meet my forever person? Ha ha

We had a few mutual friends on Facebook so apparently Facebook showed me under the “People You May Know” section on Greg’s feed. He clicked on me, took the deep dive scrolling through my profile to learn more about me and he decided to shoot his shot. Way to go Greg!

So, Greg sent me a friend request along with a long intentional and very thoughtful message introducing himself, telling me about his boys, what he likes to do for fun, complimenting me as a Mom and on my career (after reading up on me) and he told me he would love to take me out to dinner to get to know me.

Shortly thereafter, we went on what became our last first date ever! And we are insanely happy to be building our lives together with our 4 amazing kids! So… we have Facebook to thank for bringing us together. Lol.

But we both know it was simply meant to be and God’s plan and He made it all happen. We both prayed for one another before we ever met and know that God brought us together because we are truly perfect for each other. We are extremely grateful and feel incredibly blessed beyond comprehension to get to spend the rest of our lives together. And we can’t wait to celebrate this beautiful next chapter of our lives with all of you in Cabo!

THE PROPOSAL

Everything about Greg's proposal was pure magic! Of course people always ask if I knew, so here's the full story. Yes. I knew it was coming because Greg insisted that we design my engagement ring together. He said it was going to be on my hand for the rest of my life and so he wanted to make sure I would love it and it was exactly how I wanted it to be. So very thoughtful. So very Greg.

So, he booked an appointment with a custom jeweler a couple months before and we went together. It was a very surreal day! I kept trying to say I would show him a couple of styles I liked and he could choose from there but nope - he insisted that we design it fully together. Very special. He went back the next week to select the exact center stone without me. But I knew the shape and style of the band. So, yes, I knew the ring was coming.

We actually knew within the first 3 months of dating that we were each other's forever. Zero doubts. We were ring shopping around 6 months into dating. When you know, you know. It's true. And he kept saying - why should we wait? We've missed enough time together - I don't want to wait any longer. I felt the same.

Ok - so now that brings us to this dream trip. We originally considered Greece for the wedding since neither of us had ever been and it was on both of our bucket lists. But ultimately we decided it was too far and too much of an ask for you - our guests. So, Greg decided to propose in Greece instead. He planned everything though - he always does which is wild for me because I am such a planner and do-er just like he is. But I LOVE that he just takes charge and takes care of things. So, I knew nothing except that we were going to Greece for 10 days.

He proposed the second night we were there. He told me we were going to dinner and to be ready by a certain time. He was dressed up but he often does that for our dates so I wasn't totally sure if this was the night but I figured the ring was burning a hole in his pocket. We went up to the hotel bar for a drink and it started raining. So we had to go inside.

About 20 minutes later, it stopped and he told me we would head to dinner but needed to go back to the room for a second. As we walked down the stairs towards the room, I saw it! A beautiful cliffside terrace with stunning flowers matching the beautiful blue and white colors of Greece and candles. There were enough flowers for it to be a wedding, ha ha. Totally Greg considering he sends me huge beautiful flowers often.

As I turned to him he led me to the center of the most beautiful scene I could imagine and took a knee. That moment between us is one I will forever cherish. The true beginning of the rest of our lives together. After it was over and I was smiling from ear to ear wiping away tears and holding his face in my hands - I noticed all the staff above us cheering for us and the amazing photographer he hired to capture our engagement. He thought of everything.

The rain was coming back so instead of sitting out there as he had planned for a private dinner, they moved us into a private cave overlooking the pool and then the beautiful cliffs and ocean just beyond. It was perfect. But before we enjoyed a fantastic chef's tasting menu dining experience, we text our kids in the big family group chat since we couldn't choose who to text first so we told them together by sending them a video of us telling them. Immediately our phones starting ringing with them Facetiming us and we ended up doing a group family Facetime. IT WAS PERFECT.
